Explanation
The moment of inertia of an equal channel section can be calculated using the equations shown to the right.
Ixx=12BH3−(B−t)(H−2t)3 Iyy=32tB3+(H−2t)t3−Axc2 A represents the area of the section component, and xc represents the distance from the centroid of the section from the bottom left-hand corner of the section in the x direction.
B represents the section's width, H is its height, and t is the web and flange thickness.
