I Beam Elastic Section Modulus Calculator

This calculator calculates the section modulus for an i-beam section. This is done with the equation below.

S=BH26bh36HS = \frac{BH^2}{6}-\frac{bh^3}{6H}

The following are the variables for the equations...

    = the section modulus
  2. 
    
    = the breadth, i.e. the total breadth of the I beam.
  1. 
    
    = the height, i.e. the total height of the I beam.
  1. 
    
    = the breadth, i.e. two times the length b/2 in Figure 1.
  1. 
    
    = the height, i.e. the height of the middle bar of the I beam in Figure 1.
