Freefall Height Calculator

Calculation

Inputs

V(0)
:10m / s

g
:9.81m/s^2

t, seconds
:5

Here are the variables for the equation

Output

H
:75m

H=V0t+12gt2H = V_{0} \cdot t + \frac {1}{2} \cdot g \cdot t^2

Explanation

According to Newtonian physics, freefall can be classified as the motion of an object when no factor except gravity is exerting a force on it. The height of a given object in freefall can be calculated by obtaining the initial velocity, time taken to fall and the acceleration due to gravity.

H=V0t+12gt2H = V_{0} \cdot t + \frac {1}{2} \cdot g \cdot t^2
Note: This is the same equation as height in projectile motion!
