Centre of Gravity Calculator

This calculator helps you determine the centre of gravity of a triangle and the centre of gravity between two masses.
The centre of gravity refers to the point in a body, like a volume, area or line, that would be in balance if it were suspended. In a symmetrical body of a uniform material, the centre of gravity is the geometric centre (also known as the centroid).

Calculation

1. Triangle Side Lengths

This function calculates the centre of gravity of a body given the three side lengths of a triangle.
Where all three medians meet at a single point (concurrent), is known as the centroid of a triangle. A centroid is also known as the centre of gravity.
Inputs

a
:10.00m

b
:15.00m

c
:20.00m

Output

h
:14.52m

Centroid, x
:2.08m

Centroid, y

2. Triangle Height

A simpler calculator to obtain the centre of gravity of a triangle is by using its height directly.
Input

h (1)
:30.00m

Output

d
:10.00meter

3. Two Bodies

This function calculates the centre of gravity of two separate bodies, as a function of the masses and the distance between the centre of the bodies.
Inputs

Q
:100.00g

P
:150.00g

a (1)
:50.00m

Outputs

b (1)
:20.00m

c (1)
:30.00m
